Watch Out For These!

These are the icicles on the side of my house! I took this picture this evening and I thought I'd share it. I love icicles.

12 hours [Part 2]

 11am: wake up.

 12pm: i like shoes. sometimes it's hard to pick what to wear.

 1pm: Got to campus early...

2pm: the keyboard and my phone's keyboard are very similar...

 3pm: Digital Photography....

4pm: Photos from Darkroom Photo last semester... still in class.

5pm: so ready to be done with class.

6pm: Pineapple soaked in Passion Fruit vodka for 3 weeks. It's dangerous. 

 7pm: Grumpy Daddy making dinner.

 9pm: Got sidetracked by this mobile game of Solitaire so I forgot about 8pm. Oops!

 10pm: Just me & Molly awake right now....

11pm: trying to find something on the TV... I wasn't too successful. :(

And thus concludes my 24 hour project. It was really hard to keep track of the time, especially when I was distracted by other people and other things. In classes though, it was a piece of cake. I also didn't know what to take pictures of. The things that I see on a daily basis aren't very exciting or picture/blog worthy I think. 

12 hours [Part 1]

Thursday, January 27th.

 3:30pm: Coffee, absolutely necessary.

4:30pm: History of Photography, movie, "Born In Brothels"

 5:30pm: Dinner?

 6:30pm: Art Education for Secondary Level: Amy.

7:30pm: Art Education for Secondary Level: The paper we were going to read during class.... but got severely sidetracked.

 8:30ish: Ironically, the time on my cellphone doesn't match what the file for this photo says?

 9pm ish: FINALLY done with the first of many long Thursdays.

11ish pm: Beer, clearly. 

Apparently, with the amazing Bluegrass music I was listening to and all of my friends there with me, I lost track of time and didn't take a 10pm picture. Huh.

 12am: I think it's obvious.

 1230-1ish: Those are not all mine.

 2ish am: Christmas Gift

2:30ish am: Bed. A mess, as always.

Clearly, these pictures don't describe my TYPICAL day, but considering on Thursdays I have classes from 9:40am until 9pm, basically straight through, I'd say this will be how my Thursday's will be for the semester.

I was looking through some of the pictures on my computer this weekend and I found this. I'm always taking pictures of sunsets, the ocean, sunrises, etc, but it's pictures like these that really make me appreciate how lucky I am to live so close to the ocean. This picture was taken about 2 years ago (even though I have countless similar ones). This is the causeway that leads to Portsmouth from New Castle (where I live).

Lauren Halvorson: Professional Photographer

Lauren Halvorson is a girl I went to school with a few years ago, that now owns her own wedding & portrait photography company. She's really creative when it comes to backgrounds and editing. She's come up with some really interesting ideas for her photo shoots. I think her work is very beautiful and other people must feel the same, considering in the summer she's traveling all over New England doing many weddings!

Why Do I Like To Take Pictures?

I like to capture a moment in time for me (or other's) to look at later. I like to save memories for me to look back at, and laugh about, if I'm having a bad day. I like to be able to show other people places I've been or things I've seen. I like the versatility of this medium and how easy it can be for anyone to take photographs.   I really enjoy seeing other people's view of the world and of events in comparison with my own. I take pictures so that I can remember things or other people can remember things.
I think that it can be really interesting how images can be changed and/or manipulated with the touch of a few buttons once you've figured out the programs. I'm really interested in learning how to properly use Photoshop.
